Are you a humorist?
I am humorous but not a humorist. Humor and funny stories act as a support to my teaching content rather than the main element. The split between entertainment/humor and education/content is about 60/40. For a humorist it may be 80/20, 90/10 or even 100/0.
Do you talk about Candid Camera?
Yes and No. I do tell some stories about my father and family, but the show is not a main focus of my speeches. We can arrange to show some clips from the show, custom themed to your group, if you would like a little more about Candid Camera.
Did your dad really think up all of those gags?
He thought of most of them but viewers also wrote in over
the years and contributed lots and lots of great material.
Do you really bake muffins?
I absolutely do and they will melt in your mouth when you try them. Ask me sometime
and I will tell you “The Muffin Maker” story.
How long are your presentations?
All of my material is structured in modules, which are like building
blocks. They can be cut and pasted together to create a program anywhere
from 30 minutes to 3 hours in length. This structure also allows me to
make up time for you if another speaker runs overtime.
Will your speech be customized for our group?
The more you tell me the more I can make a presentation specially tailored for you. Because orienting a presentation accurately is so important to me, we use three data collection tools before a program: a conference call, a pre-program questionnaire and an online survey for participants.
Is your customization different from other speakers?
Yes, because of that third secret ingredient. The first two data collection tools (conference calls and pre-program questionnaires) are the industry standard. Our third tool, the online participant survey, is unique and allows us to get an in-the-trenches point of view on current needs and events.
Will you do a spouse program or breakout in addition to the keynote?
Absolutely! AT NO EXTRA CHARGE, provided it does not necessitate a second
night stay.
Do you charge
more for a half-day?
Up to two and a half hours of total platform
time, and up to two sessions are included in the keynote
fee, provided that the schedule does not necessitate a second
night’s stay. That can be a keynote and a breakout,
a keynote and a spouse program or a two and a half hour workshop.
Three session days are quoted by request and do cost a bit
more regardless of the total platform time.
Do
you do full day programs?
No, but I can help refer you to some
great folks who do.
Will you give discounts for government groups, non-profits etc?
From time to time we choose a local non-profit to receive a special discount.
In addition, local government groups will be given special consideration. Click
here to find more ways to make programming affordable.
Will you spend any time with our group in addition to your speech?
That depends on whether there will be cake. Where there is cake you will find me.
Seriously, I will always try to attend sessions in addition to my own unless travel issues or schedule problems prevent it. I love to spend time with conference participants in a casual setting so I can get a feel for the people behind the paperwork.
What type of groups do you fit
best with?
I work especially well with Associations, Women’s Groups, Financial
Professionals, Realtors, Educators and the heart-centered professions
(such as counselors and health professionals.)
